How to Measure

  1. Length of nose flap: measure from top of noseband to desired length. Keep in mind if it is too long it may flip up while your horse is grazing.
  2. Width of nose flap: measure from centre seam to desired width (this width will be doubled)
  3. Gullet: measure from gullet, around behind ears to starting point.
  4. Poll to noseband: measure from centre of poll to start of noseband.
  5. Noseband: measure around the head where the noseband would sit.

Care Instructions

To maintain the life of the product, we recommend following the below care instructions:

  • Cold, hand wash with a gentle detergent that is compatible with your horses skin
  • Do not bleach, soak, wring or tumble dry
  • Do not iron or dry clean.

As with all horse products, we recommend removing Bugeyes and checking them on a regular basis

Eye Mesh

90% UV Tough Mesh

A polyester coated, UV stabilised mesh offering 90% UV protection. This is the toughest mesh we could source.
Horses sensitive to wind, dust and UV or have recurring weepy/gunky eyes will benefit greatly from using our 90% UV Tough mesh.
This higher rated mesh is recommended to help with treatment of eye ulcers, lesions, scratches and Uveitis.
This is perfect for horses requiring a high UV blockout (sensitive eyes, skin, or both) and is well suited to horses and/or environments that are harsh on fly masks.

90% UV Soft Mesh

A thick, tightly woven mesh offering 90% UV protection.
Like our Tough mesh, this high rated mesh is also recommended to help with weepy/gunky eyes, treatment of eye ulcers, lesions, scratches and Uveitis.
This is perfect for horses requiring a high UV blockout (sensitive eyes, skin, or both), but prefer a softer mesh than our 90% UV Tough.

74% Insect Mesh

A fibreglass reinforced mesh rated at 74% UV protection. This is similar to the mesh found in household windows or a flyscreen door.

Perfect for riding. Choose this mesh to keep flies and insects off your horse and offer plenty of visibility.

If your horses behaviour or environment is tough on fly veils, we highly recommend selecting a Bugeye with our 90% UV Tough mesh.

Nose Skirt

  • Maximum protection available, our Nose Skirt is specifically designed to flare away from the sensitive nose/muzzle area. This prevents sunburn and allows sunburnt skin to heal.
  • Made from the highest rated 99% UV protection material available.
  • Designed for horses that require constant sun protection.
  • Doesn’t retain water due to closely woven material.
  • Provides full coverage for paints, cremellos or any horses with pink skin on their nose or lips.
  • Avoids abrasion from conventional nose flaps (they can become abrasive when they get wet and build up dirt/dried mucous) and provides the most comfort for your horse.

Mesh Nose flap

  • Made from the highest rated 99% UV protection material available.
  • Doesn’t retain water due to closely woven material.
  • Provides adequate coverage for horses with a stripe or snip
  • Avoids abrasion from conventional nose flaps (they can become abrasive when they get wet and build up dirt/dried mucous) and provides the most comfort for your horse.

Ear Protection

Lycra Ears

This option is recommended if your horse requires maximum sun protection or has insect bites you are trying to heal. Lycra ears may also provide relief from Sweet Itch or those horses that are more sensitive to insect bites.

This is perfect for horses requiring a higher UV blockout (sensitive skin) or are tough on their flyveils.
